Excellent post Brian. I am an avid reader of Dave's Blog and I must say this interview that you have given has benefitted a lot of people still trying to grasp the potential of SEO.

Hey Brian,

Great Post. Nice job on the interview by Dave Chaffey, also.

#
About KPIs:
I totally agree with your apporach, but I would like to associate KPIs to Data Segmentation (for GA users like me: Filters or Advanced Segmentation).
As you told on the post, but with other words: "KPIs usually involve you extracting data from the reports in order to make the calculation specific to your organisation." :)

#

About Keyword Research:
When I started to read your answer I just did a "silent" YES! To analyze data from your Internal Site Search give us also insights from our customer behavior: What they are looking for, on what page did they start to search, etc.. And Google Analytics is just so great on this! :)
I also would like to talk about the Google Webmaster Tools, cause we can get some idea on what keywords we could start to work even more in. Let me know if you do not agree with me. :)

#

To finish, I would say that your insights on Landing Pages just rocks for any GA user. "To compare different referral sources in terms of their value" is the phrase that would resume many things I would lay to say. I actually think that all analysts must know about their client business and then make the "monetization" process on the website work much better.

Thanks for yout time.
Best,
@diogenespassos
